American Field Service (AFS)
American Field Service (AFS) provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world. AFS enables people to act as responsible global citizens working for peace and understanding in a diverse world. Activities are based on our core values of dignity, respect for differences, harmony, sensitivity and tolerance. A short-term exchange and/or various cultural field trip experiences or student-centered opportunities provided through this organization.
Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)
Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is an organization to help develop competent, aggressive business leadership. Also to strengthen the confidence of students in themselves and their work; to create more interest in and understanding of American business enterprise; and to also facilitate the transition from school to work. Activities include Regional and State competitions, with the potential of National competitions. Competitions are based on various topics / areas in business.
Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)
Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a national career and technical student organization for young men and women in Family and Consumer Sciences Education through grades 12. ELG members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues such as bullying, relationships, obesity, and consumer spending through Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Activities include Regional, State, and National STAR Events (leadership) competitions. ELGHS has been represented at the state level for the past 7 years and 11 students have represented ELGS and Wisconsin at the national level in the past 5 years. Within the community, the FCCLA annually hosts grandparents and senior citizens from the community for a Thanksgiving Day Luncheon with the students, Veterans for a Veteran’s Day luncheon, along with other community activities.
National Honor Society (NHS)
National Honor Society (NHS) is an organization for juniors and seniors with a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.5 or higher. Students with recognized accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership and service are invited to become members. Students who are inducted into the society must maintain their high standings in the four areas and participate in various service projects throughout their membership.
FFA - Future Farmers of America
The FFA offers a wide array of leadership opportunities including Career Development Events (CDE) where members can participate on an agriculture judging team along with a variety of speaking contests. Members compete at the District, Sectional, State, and National levels in these various contests. The FFA chapter believes community service is also important by sponsoring the Giving Wreath, bell ringing, and fund drives for area nursing homes during Christmas, along with an annual blood drive. FFA hosts numerous conferences, workshops, and chapter activities that develop personal growth and career training skills for our leaders of tomorrow.
World Language Club (WLC)
World Language Club (WLC) explores many different countries and languages. WLC explores cultures through celebrations, food, and film. ELGHS recognizes World Language Week with fun activities. In the past students have traveled to Spain, Italy, Costa Rica, France, and England.
Student Council
Student Council is comprised of students from all high school grades, who are elected by their peers. Their main objective is to plan student and school activities, and encourage involvement. Some activities include Homecoming, Christmas Week, Spring Fever, school dances, as well as community service involvement.
Forensics
Students learn the areas of public speaking, play acting, public address, poetry, and other avenues of speech, and are asked to present their selection in front of a judge. Members participate in various local and area contests with the opportunity to advance to District and State competitions.
Musical and Play Productions
Musical and Play Productions are performed twice a year (fall and spring), and are open to elementary grades through high school. The productions provide an opportunity to bring out the actor/actress hidden within each of us.
Pit Band
Pit Band accompanies the cast of the musical. The pit band meets once a week until full cast rehearsals begin, and then rehearses with the entire cast through performance time.
Pep Band
Fun music. Good times. Pep band plays for the majority of home football, volleyball, and girls and boys basketball games, and occasionally wrestling meets and soccer games.
Jazz Band
Meets seasonally for pops concerts and special occasions. The group plays a wide variety of music including jazz as well as popular music.
Lakeland Math League
An annual math competition that is held at Lakeland College in the fall. The competition is open higher level math students.
Academic Competitions
An annual academic competition is held in Green Bay in the spring. Students compete in teams in the areas of Science, Social Studies, Math, and English. The competition is open to all students in the high school.
Tech. Ed. Club
Tech. Ed. Club is an organization developed to provide students with technology related opportunities beyond the classroom. The club is student centered, allowing students to choose which area of technology they wish to pursue. The club is open to all students. Students choose activities in the areas of woodworking, metalworking, plastics, small engines, robotics, Skills USA, and more.
Art Club
Art Club officers and members will be involved in touring local museums and viewing the exhibitions of professional artists. The club members will work on unique projects in support of the arts.
National Art Honor Society
Students recognized for their volunteer work in society by making a difference through the Arts. NAHS members who meet the requirements will be recognized at graduation.
Bird Nerds
An informal group of nature enthusiasts who want to learn about local birds and improve their birding skills. Frequent birding trips will occur in spring and fall to nearby locations. Contact Mr. Moore for details.
Model UN
Students role-play various countries in the world in simulations conducted at Model UN Conferences. They learn about the history, politics, and foreign policies of several countries and begin to understand the importance of the United Nations in the world today. Students become familiar with several international problems or issues and experience the give and take of diplomacy, as they attempt to pass resolutions in their councils. The model provides an opportunity for students to improve their public speaking and debate skills, and to learn some parliamentary procedure, as well as, how to learn how to work constructively in a group.
Unity Club
A place for students to discuss and learn about issues of gender, sexuality, race, religion, culture, and more. Created as a safe place free from judgement and hostility, this club aims to provide a supportive community for students and foster a school climate of acceptance. Everyone is welcome to join and the focus of this club will be determined by the topics/issues that students want to explore.
Environmental Club
The purpose of the Environmental Club is to increase awareness of the relationships between human actions and our environment, educate the school community of steps that can be taken to improve our environment, and to encourage responsible environmental behaviors.
