Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah School District presented its 1st Annual Distinguished Alumni Award at its Homecoming Game on Friday, September 22, 2017. The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah School District prides itself on being a small district that thinks big. Both recipients, Ann Buechel Haack, Class of 1979, and Terri (Golbach) Laughlin, Class of 1984, reflect that philosophy within their lives since their graduation from ELGHS. Though both of the recipients graduated from ELGHS, they took very different paths after graduation. After college, Dr. Buechel Haack returned to the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah community and has shared her passion for education and helping others for the past 33 years. Ms. Laughlin attended college in New York and remained on the east coast where she shared her talents and passion for art and design through various advertising agencies and as a consultant owning her own business. She also volunteered her time and talents to help build a summer camp called “The Victory Junction Camp” for children with chronic medical conditions and serious illnesses. Both candidates are great representatives of how students can use their ELGSD education as a foundation to follow their passions and dreams.
Congratulations to Dr. Ann Buechel Haack and Ms. Terri Laughlin on earning this prestigious award. Presenting the awards were Parker Vollbrecht, FCCLA Vice-President of Service Learning and Community Involvement and Morgan Vollbrecht, Vice-President of Public Relations for the ELGHS FCCLA chapter. FCCLA stands for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America and is the sponsor of the Distinguished Alumni Award.
